SSE looks to rival Gothenburg for its next president

Stockholm School of Economics has appointed Rolf Wolff, former president of he school of business, economics and law at the University of Gothenburg, in western Sweden, as its next president. Prof Wolff, who was born in Germany and specialises in management and entrepreneurship, previously worked at the Stockholm school.
The appointment comes at a difficult time for SSE, which has recently seen its Equis accreditation from EFMD (the European Foundation of Management Development) confirmed for only a further three years, rather than five-year accreditation it enjoyed previously. The only Swedish school to hold a five-year Equis accreditation is Prof Wolff’s University of Gothenburg.
Prof Wolff says his task was to work with colleagues support the positive trends in the school. “Together we will ensure that, as a well-established business school, the Stockholm School of Economics maintains its strong position in the face of increasing global competition for reputation as well as for resources.”
Prof Wolff will replace outgoing president Lars Bergman in June.
