Copenhagen Business School fires Johan Roos

In an extraordinarily public move, Copenhagen Business School has announced that it has fired its president Johan Roos. In a press release, chairman of the CBS board Anders Knutsen says that “we have had to accept that the president has lost his esteem at CBS”.
The decision follows a convoluted tale relating to the proposed merger of the CBS EMBA programme with that of Simi, the Scandinavian Interernational Management Institute. It has emerged that 25 students who graduated last year from the Simi programme have not been able to get accreditation for their degrees. Mr Knutsen emphasises that these problems relate only to Simi students - all CBS students have received their degrees as expected - and says that this was just one of the issues that resulted in the dismissal of Prof Roos.
Prior to joining the Danish business school, Prof Roos worked at the Stockholm School of Economics, where he was involved in the termination of the fledgling full-time MBA programme. Prior to joining SSE he worked at IMD in Switzerland.
Dean of Research Alan Irwin has been temporarily appointed to the post of president of Copenhagen Business School.
