British business schools top European league

British business schools top the European league according to the latest Financial Times ranking of European Business Schools.
Ten of the top 20 schools are based in the UK, with London Business School taking the number one slot. The University of Oxford’s Saïd school of business is ranked number seven. Four of the top 10 slots are filled by London-based schools – LBS, London School of Economics, the Cass school at City University and Imperial College’s Tanaka business school.
The Financial Times ranking is a compilation of the four different rankings the FT compiled in 2005: the full-time MBA ranking, the Executive MBA ranking, executive short programmes and the Masters in Management programme. Only two schools, ESCP-EAP and Helsinki School of Economics, participated in all four sections.
The schools who achieve the highest scores overall are those with particular strengths in one type of programme. London Business School is ranked top in both the MBA and EMBA rankings in Europe. Insead also does particularly well in the MBA rankings, as does the University of Oxford. HEC Paris tops the table in the masters in management programmes.
The table also includes eight French schools, three Spanish schools and schools from Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Austria, Hungary and Scandinavia.
