Chávez urges Farc to end struggle

In a dramatic U-turn, Hugo Chávez, Venezuela’s president, has called on Marxist guerrillas to cease their fight against the Colombian government and hand over hundreds of hostages for nothing in return.

“The guerrilla war is history,” he said on Sunday.
