IBM shrugs off glocal economy fears

IBM, the world’s biggest IT services company, on Thursday shrugged off concerns about the global economy as it raised its full-year outlook and reported better than expected sales and profits for the second quarter.

The results reaffirmed the view held by many Wall Street analysts that IBM, which designs and maintains computer systems for some of the world’s biggest companies and governments, remains well-positioned to weather the slowdown that has hit other US stocks.
